Unlike the prior format, this encourages the bidding and the chatting to all take place in the same area. The only problem with this format is that once comments start to collapse, people might not want to expand all the comments to find out if someone is bidding/has bid.
This format can work well, if you are able to update your current bid thread with a link to whoever has the highest bid. It also encourages people to talk to each other while they are bidding.
By providing a link in the current bid thread, even if someone has bid after that person and you haven't updated the link/current bid - they can see where the current thread of bidding is taking place. This will make it easier to keep all of the actual bidding in one spot.
THIS IS SORT OF... AN EXAMPLE OF THIS FORMAT - When the first auction happened, I wasn't sure the best way to have people comment. We would put the auction info up and then let everything crazy happen. So, instead of the auction details being the first part, instead you can just provide the booth description and then let everything go crazy.
